CADDO SCHOOL BOARD HAS FUNDS FOR CROSSING GUARDS

Last Saturday Caddo citizens approved a tax renewal for the Caddo School Board. This will result in revenues in excess of $88 million dollars.

One of the three stated purposes for the renewal is to increase safety at the schools.

The city of Shreveport spent over $271,000 for school crossing guards IN 2018. The school board only paid $11.900.

The school board should pay at least 50% of the costs for crossing guards.

Each school can determine the need for these services. If paying half the cost the school board will be accountable for the number of crossing guards actually needed.

Obviously school principals are better positioned to determine this need than the Shreveport Police Department.
