CANDIDATES LINING UP TO RUN AGAINST JACKSON AND BURRELL FOR CADDO COMMISSION ELECTIONS THIS FALL

Goodness, it’s still almost 10 months before the Nov. primary that will feature, among other races, the 12 Caddo Commission seats.

To say the new year under the "leadership" of new prez Roy Burrell has not started off well for the Commission is an understatement.

Recent publicity over a highly contested, now pulled, planning commission zoning along with efforts to ban this writer plus usher citizens out of chambers when the gavel falls has brought attention in a very negative way to the Commission.

Steven Jackson may not be on the Commission this fall if convicted of a felony for his blue light special in stopping a Bossier resident pretending to be a police officer.

Jackson also has a domestic protective order hearing in Caddo district court on Feb. 1.

The chatter about Jackson is that he may have used his blue light to pull over other citizens including women.

Jackson can expect an opponent this fall if he is still on Commission.

Roy Burrell was elected by default.

Everyone thought that Jerald Bowman would requalify for this commission seat. in a well orchestrated plan, Bowman did not qualify at the last minute as expected and Burrell slipped into the race at the ninth hours as an unopposed candidate.

Burrell always touts his experience as a Shreveport councilman and a state legislator. Obviously he does not tout his knowledge of the commission rules/bylaws, the Louisiana Constitution or the U.S. Constitution which was obvious in the letter he signed attempting to ban this writer from attending Commission meetings.

Burrell will have an opponent this fall.

There is also chatter about other races including Ken Epperson, who was fired as the director of the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery. Epperson is always the grumpy old man on the Commission who rarely is successful in any of his legislative proposals.

Stay tuned.
