CADDO COMMISSION DROPS SUIT AGAINST GOVERNOR

Waiting until after Caddo voters approved the three parish tax renewals, the Caddo Commission voted unanimously to dismiss the litigation filed against Governor John Bel Edwards over the right to have unlimited ZOOM Commission meetings.

There are five contested Caddo judicial races with 14 candidates on the Nov. 3 primary.The judicial districts are geographic areas. Thus not all five contested elections will be on each ballot.Six candidates have loaned substantial sums to their campaigns.

MERCKLE, MOUTON, WOOD--SEPARATING THE CANDIDATES

Emily Settle Merckle, Edward Mouton and Paul Wood are candidates for an open Shreveport city judgeship.Merckle is 33, Mouton is 63, and Wood is 61.Merckle is the only female candidate. Merckle has loaned her campaign $7,500. Mouton has loaned his campaign $58,700.

Emily Merckle is a candidate for Shreveport City Judge. Her opponents are Edward Mouton and Paul Wood.The latest campaign report filed by Merckle is for the period of Sept. 25 through Oct. 14.The report shows no loans in that period. The total loans by Merckle to her campaign are $7500.

EARLY VOTING UP IN BOSSIER AND CADDO PARISHES

Wow! Early voting in Louisiana ended Tues. Oct. 27 and the numbers are in for both absentee and in person voting. Early voting in Bossier Parish was up over 2016 by 229 percent. In Caddo the number was up by 175 percent. Bossier Parish early voters numbered 27,662.

MOUTON CAMPAIGN: $58,700 IN LOANS THROUGH OCT. 14

Edward Mouton is a candidate for Shreveport City Judge. His opponents are Emily Merckle and Paul Wood.The latest campaign report filed by Mouton is for the period of Sept. 25 through Oct. 14.The report shows loans in that period of $5600.

WOOD CAMPAIGN: $73,000 IN LOAN THROUGH OCT. 14

Paul Wood is a candidate for Shreveport City Judge. His opponents are Emily Merckle  and Edward Mouton.The latest campaign report filed by Wood is for the period of Sept. 25 through Oct. 14.The report shows loans in that period of $25,000. That brings the total loans by Woods  to his campaign.

BIG BUCKS BEING SPENT ON JUDICIAL ELECTIONS

There are three open judgeships in Caddo Parish. The seat on the Caddo District bench has three in the hunt: Edwin Byrd, Chris Victory and Mary Winchell.The Caddo Juvenile Court race is between Natalie Howell and Clay Walker.

SHREVEPORT OPERA RETURNS TO RIVERVIEW THEATRE

The Shreveport Opera is the first arts organization to perform in Riverview Theatre during the COVD pandemic. The Shreveport Opera Xpress (SOX) will have an "Evening of Opera and Broadway Favorites on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. The performance will last an hour. On Friday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m.
