On Monday (Sept. 21) Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith gave his monthly crime report on calls for service to the Shreveport City Council comparing year to date with Sept. 21, 2025. Here are the calls for service: 1. Felonies   Down 13% 2. Vehicle thefts   Down 14% 3.

SHREVEPORT POLICE CHIEF TO BE NAMED THIS MONTH

In a few weeks. Shreveport mayor Adrian Perkins will announce his selection for Shreveport’s next permanent police chief. Former SPD chief Alan Crump resigned effective July 31. State law requires that Perkins must fill the vacancy within 60 days–which is Sunday Sept. 29.

BAD JOB NEWS FOR SHREVEPORT MSA

The Shreveport-Bossier City metropolitan area is a metropolitan statistical area (MSA) that covers the parishes of Caddo, Bossier, Webster and Desoto.The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) just reported that the Shreveport MSA lost 3100 jobs from July 2018 through July 2019.
