Currently, the Shreveport Caddo Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) has jurisdiction over the city limits of Shreveport. The powers and authorities of the MPC are set forth in the Shreveport Unified Development Code (UDC).The City of Shreveport provides funds to the MPC for its services.

SENATOR JENKIN'S STATE LAND BANKING AUTHORITY ACT CAN PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO SHREVEPORT IN  REDEVELOPMENT EFFORTS

Shreveport's Senator Sam Jenkins pushed through the Louisiana Legislature this past session that can provide Shreveport in its  assistance efforts. This legislation will  be invaluable to the City and to SIRA--the Shreveport Implementation and Redevelopment Act--once signed by Gov. Landry.

Most elected officials and civic leaders agree that home ownership is a key to stable neighborhoods. Many of Shreveport's declining neighborhoods lack adequate housing for its residents.The City of Shreveport owns approximately 6,000 plus adjudicated properties. Most of these lots are vacant.

The challenges with Shreveport's water are well-documented.The same is true for the many efforts, including expensive equipment purchases, to rectify water quality issues.
