MAYOR ARCENEAUX LISTS HIS TOP THREE PRIORITIES FOR 2025

It’s a new year and Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux is working after a Dec.27 hip replacement. He was back at work from his home on Dec.30.In recent media interviews (710 KEEL, Shreveport-Bossier Advocate), Mayor Tom has listed this top three priorities for 2025.

The issuance of permits for liquor stores has been the hot button issue in Shreveport City hall for many years.For the longest time the Shreveport City Council was the final decision maker in this permitting process.

WHAT'S THE FUTURE OF THE FAIRGROUNDS FIELD ACREAGE AFTER STADIUM DEMOLITION?

The demolition of Fairgrounds Field stadium has commenced, and it should be completed early next year, if not by year end. The property that consists of the parking lot adjacent to the stadium and the stadium itself belongs to the City of Shreveport.

"50 CENT" NOT THE LARGEST DOWNTOWN SHREVEPORT PROPERTY OWNER

Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson continues to buy property in downtown Shreveport. With the exception of crushed rock on the downtown city block, all of his properties are in the same condition as a the time of purchase.

The latest excuse proffered for the failure of Curtis  "50 Cent" Jackson to comply with  the performance requirements of his lease of Millennium Studios is that he needs an additional building.

I applauded the relationship that the city is forming with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, but due care should be given with obligating city assets such as the Red River District. It may not be prudent to tie up the vast majority of city assets with any one investor.
