YESTERDAY’S DDA PRESS CONFERENCE ALL SIZZLE NO STEAK

It was a big dog and pony that got plenty of press but offered no substance.

As is his MO, Downtown Development Director Cedric Glover promised great things that have little chance of becoming reality.

Street signs advising of illegal activities will simply clutter downtown.

Homeless people downtown do need assistance, but many, if not most, prefer the homeless lifestyle.

But the biggest joke of all is that the contract for the touted downtown private patrol has yet to be executed.

What---all this pomp and circumstance and no media covering the event inquired about the contract—was it in existence and what were its terms.

And why hold this spectacle if no deal has been set?

Oh—that’s right, there is a DDA tax renewal on the Nov. 3 ballot and Glover has little to show for his two years as Executive Director at a salary of over $100,000 per year.

Yesterday’s circus confirms what many have realized—that the DDA is a dinosaur and that Glover is not the one to lead the dying beast  to the graveyard.
