Caddo deputy fired, detention chief demoted after inmate escape

CPSO says discipline followed Tre’Veon Jackson’s capture and came during an internal investigation

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - A Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy was fired and the agency’s detention chief was demoted after inmate Tre’Veon Jackson escaped from a hospital and was later captured in Texas, CPSO said.

The assistant chief is Disha Darby, according to the Sheriff’s Office website and sources. Darby was promoted after Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. took office in 2024. The sheriff previously said he believed Jackson’s handcuffs were not double-locked. Jackson escaped during a medical transport last month and was arrested after a weeks-long manhunt on a college campus in Marshall. He is now in federal custody at Bossier Max.

Jackson escaped from the hospital on the night of Sept. 14, prompting a manhunt.

Jackson was arrested Sept. 22 on the Texas State Technical College campus after a weeklong search involving Marshall police, Harrison County sheriff’s deputies, and the U.S. Marshals Service. Before his escape, he was in CPSO custody facing two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder.

CPSO said the discipline came after Jackson was found and during an internal investigation. The agency did not verify the names of the employees disciplined. KSLA has requested personnel records and the letters documenting the termination and demotion.
