John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

 

KEY POSITIONS OPEN AT CITY HALL

The following jobs have been posted on the City of Shreveport website as of Wednesday, October 15:

· Director of Finance---Charles Madden retires Dec. 31.

· Director Human Resources—Angelita Jackson has retired.

· Comptroller—David Creswell is no longer with the city.

· Engineering Permit Manager—position is open

Madden, was in the hot seat earlier this month, after an external audit found over two dozen deficiencies in its 2018 audit of the City of Shreveport’s finance department. The issue was the result of what the auditors referred to as poor documentation and communication from the department.

Councilman James Flurry was expected to call for a note of no confidence in Madden at the next council meeting but will no longer be needed after Madden submit his letter of resignation.

According to sources, the Comptroller, David Creswell, who had been with the city since 2016, was fired by Madden last Friday following the heated meeting of the City Council’s Audit and Finance Committee last Monday, October 7.
