Jerry Harper was hired by the Parish of Caddo to represent the seven (7) Democrat Caddo Commissioners who are being investigated by the Lousiana Attorney General.
The case involves a resolution that was presented to Bernie Sanders at his Shreveport appearance. The resolution had not, at that time, been approved by a majority of the Caddo Commision.
Harper has now filed a Defamation lawsuit against Caddo Commissioner Chris Kracman. Harper is representing James Silvio and others.The suit involves a series of statements made by Kracman on KEEL Radio and in social media postings concerning T/A Truck Stop near Hosston, Lousiana.
Kracman has questioned if the Defamation suit represents a conflict of interest by Harper. He assumedly is being paid by Caddo Parish to present the seven (7) Democrats. And he is now representing Silvio, et. al, in litigation against a Caddo Commissioner. Reportedly a complaint will be filed with The Louisiana Board of Ethics by Kracman and/or his legal counsel.
Kracman has requested that Caddo Parish provide representation in this litigation. In addition to Harper the Parihs has reportedly hired Shreveport attorney John Nickleson to represent the five (5) Republican Commissioners in re the Attorney General.
John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.
He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.
