John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

THE STRAND AND ROBINSON FILM CENTER DON’T WANT FREE PUBLICITY—SO PRESUMABLY THEY DO NOT NEED YOUR ATTENDANCE OR CONTRIBUTIONS

Shreveport has many great arts organizations. Typically these are non-profit organizations which allows donors to deduct contributions. And in today’s world of shrinking dollars, the competition for private dollars has intensified.

The Inquisitor, under my ownership, is promoting local arts organizations, community organizations and other civic groups.

Articles have been published for the Shreveport Little Theatre, Shreveport Opera (see tomorrow), Shreveport Symphony, Chimp Haven, SRAC Friend with You exhibition, Stage Center Theatre, Shreveport Aquarium and others.

Other non-profits that have been published include the Shreveport Junior League, Holy Cross Hope House, Downtown Development Authority, Ducks Unlimited and others.

Free ads have been run for the Gingerbread House Luncheon, the Shreveport Little Theatre, C.E. Byrd Men’s Soccer, USA Dance and Cross Lake Dance Club, and others.

The Strand Theatre and Robinson Film Center have declined an offer for free publicity. This week the Strand will have a blank ad with their message and next week Robinson Film Center. Evidently these organizations, which I have supported in the past, do not need additional publicity. And it that is the case, no additional public contributions.

I will remember that when considering my charitable contributions this year. The readers of SettleTalk and The Inquisitor may want to do the same as well.

This week's edition will be online at 6 p.m. Thursday and at retail locations in Caddo, Bossier , Webster and Desoto parishes Friday a.m. And assuming the postal service does not misplace our bulk mail like they did last week, paper subscribers will get the papers on Sat. or Mon.
