JENKINS IN AT AIRPORT; PANNELL OUT AT PORT; LIQUOR STORE APPROVED
Here’s the predictions for today’s votes by the Shreveport city council.
Former council member Oliver Jenkins will be appointed to the Shreveport Airport Authority board. Grant Nuckols has resigned.
Jenkins brings much needed experience as a military pilot and leader, city council member and business man to this highly maligned group that is in the process of selecting the next airport director.
Seven of the nine commissioners at the Port have requested that Shreveport mayor Adrian Perkins remove embattled port commissioner James Pannell. Perkins has requested the council to approve this action.
Pannell , who is very vocal, has been disruptive at many board meetings. Reportedly he actually resides in New Orleans, not Shreveport.
The special use permit for a liquor store on the corner of Kings Highway and Gilbert Drive will be approved by a 4-3 vote.
Council members James Flurry, Jerry Bowman JR, and Willie Bradford voted favorably for this 2 years ago. Councilman James Green is expected to also vote for approval.
