COUNTRY FOLK FUSSING ABOUT UDC, BOATS AND RVS

The Unified Development Code(UDC) was adopted by the city of Shreveport. The Caddo Commission adopted a modified version of the UDC.

The Shreveport Caddo Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) is tasked with enforcing the UDC within the city of Shreveport. It also has jurisdiction for 5 miles within the parish from the city limits.

The parish version of the UDC –like the city version—prohibits the storage of boats and recreational vehicles (Rvs) on lots unless screened and not visible from the streets.

Many folks living within the 5 mile radius of the city limits were recently cited by the MPC zoning administrator for boat and RV violations. A large number of concerned citizens attended a committee meeting on these citations.

The commission committee was receptive to their concerns. These issues and more UDC concerns will be reviewed at a committee meeting on Thurs. Nov 21 at noon.
