IS TARVER THE JACKASS ON BOND PROPOSITIONS?

Senator Greg Tarver blasted Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins, his administration and the 3 pending bond propositions in a KEEL interview.

For the record, it should be noted that Tarver votes illegally in Shreveport. He lives in the parish, in a high dollar subdivision on Cross Lake. His garage has a very expensive Mercedes Benz that is paid for by the state of Louisiana as part of his perks as a state senator.

Tarver at one time supported Perkins. That was when Perkins was dating his daughter. When that relationship ended Tarver suddenly perceived Perkins as the devil incarnate.

Tarver is back to the business as usual with black politics. That being putting out a ballot in the black areas—presumably under the mistaken notion that black voters can not make meaningful decisions individually.

Tarver’s reasons for not supporting the bond proposition are full of hot air, and lack facts. Which is often the norm for Tarver.

Here are some of the examples of his “reasoning>”

1. The administration and Perkins can not be trusted. No examples given.

2. Perkins has not conducted city affairs in a business-like manner. No examples given.

3. Perkins has not been above board and has not “let the sunshine in.” No examples given.

4. Tarver says don’t build a new police station and fix what we have. Its obvious he has not attended any of the community bond meetings or reviewed any literature on the bond. He overlooks or does not know that police station is a dump, spending money on it is throwing good after bad, and it has major problems with HVAC, plumbing and mold.

5. Tarver brags about supporting police and fire—in Baton Rouge. Evidently he does not support our local police and fire. This despite his family business and many of his constituents live in Shreveport.

6. Tarver complains of bad infrastructure. Again, he overlooks that $77 million for streets and drainage.

7. Tarver complains of no money for economic development. Evidently he forgets that bond moneys can only be spent on capital projects.

8. Tarver says bond money should be spent to benefit the total community. He fails to recognize that substantial moneys will be spent in black areas.

It’s unfortunate that elected officials take political positions without learning the facts before speaking out. Its really tragic that some politicians use their positions of influence to mislead the people they are elected to serve.

Tarver says you can’t make a race horse out of a jackass. His interview gives an new definition to “jackass.”
