The twelve member Caddo Commission will have at least four new members next year.
Three of the current members are termed out: Doug Dominick, Matthew Linn, and Jim Smith.
Mike Middleton, who is finishing his first term, has declared he will not seek re-election.
There are declared, and almost declared, candidates for each of these districts.
Dominick represents District 1, which is north Caddo. Long time Commission clerk Todd Hopkins has said he will retire at year end, and that he will probably run for this seat.
Linn represents District 4, which is primarily Highlands, South Highlands and Shreve Island. John Paul Young, son of Caddo Juvenile Judge Paul Young, plans on running for this position.
Middleton’s District 8 is primarily in Broadmoor. Jim Taliaferro, former candidate for Shreveport City Marshal and Shreveport mayor, has announced his candidacy.
Smith’s District 11 includes part of southwest Shreveport and extends to Keithville. Parker Ward is a declared candidate.
The remaining 8 commissioners are expected to run for re-election.
Qualifying is Aug. 6-8. The primary election is October 12.
