The Shreveport Airport Authority board now has 8 resumes for the open authority director position.
Well–at least two of the fivc members do—Waynette Ballengee and Jonathan Reynolds.
The position has been open since embattled director Henry Thompson resigned on Jan. 8 of this year.
The board hired a head hunter firm to advertise for his replacement–the same one that recommended Thompson.
Board chair Waynette Ballengee named Reynolds and herself to a selection committee.
Together they worked with the search firm to develop the initial job description and job application.
Reportedly there were more than 30 applications for the job. The search firm culled those and sent the following resumes to Ballengee and Reynolds:
Rosa M. Beckett
Wade A. Davis
Deven M. Judd
Stacy C. Kuba
Shawn Michael Shroeder
Zachary R. Sundquist
Stephanie K. Tucker
Jonathan Vrabel.
Michel A. Lee was also a finalist. He withdrew his name from consideration.
Kuba is the only local candidate. She has served as the airport interim director since Thompson’s resignation.
Ballengee and Reynolds are to conduct interviews and evaluate the candidates. They will cull the applicants to a smaller group for the entire boad to examine and then select a nominee.
The airport board than makes its recommendation(s) to Shreveport mayor Adrian Perkins.
The Shreveport city council must approve the nomination.
Hopefully this process will go smoother than the mayor’s citizen advisory committee for Shreveport police chief.
Many members of the private aviation community are very dissatisfied with Ballengee’s
leadership, and that of the entire board , for many reasons. These include problems with hanger leases, the airport’s sponsorships of organizations/events closely related to board members, and the disbursement of free tickets to events sponsored by the airport.
Additionally several of the current board members selected Thompson.
Thus there is widespread skepticism among many as to the decisions that have been made-and will be made–in the selection process.
More will be published on the 8 candidates in the future.
