John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

 

SETTLE SUES FOR INTERPRETATION OF HOW CROSS BAYOU FUNDS CAN BE SPENT

John Settle, the owner/publisher/editor of The Inquisitor, filed a suit in Caddo district court on Monday, Jan. 14, dealing with the Cross Bayou bond money.

Specifically, Settle is asking the court to determine if the remaining $2.8 million of unspent funds from the 1996 Riverfront Park Extension bond issue can be used to buy the 500 block of Fannin Street (the old Joe D. Waggoner federal court building), 506 Common St., that recently sold to a third party for $600,000, and the AEP meter shop at 105 McNeil St.
