THE FUNDAMENTAL QUESTION GATEWAY NEEDS TO ANSWER

This is not rocket science.

The Gateway developers--whomever they are now--have asked the city of Shreveport to buy 88 acres and donate or lease this tract to Gateway.

The question that Gateway has NOT addressed, much less answered, is where will the city get the money?

It’s a well known fact that the city does not have any extra funds for the needed purchases. And that is even if the unspent $2.8 million from the 1969 Cross Bayou bond moneys are utilized.

So, how does Gateway expect the city to accommodate their request? Why waste time on a Memorandum of Understanding?

It’s time--no long past time– for Gateway to drop the '"race card" card and recognize basic economics.
