Yep, this is the anniversary of being the publisher/editor/owner of FOCUS SB - The Inquisitor. At that time the paper was just The Inquisitor.
To relate back to this time last year, think pre-COVID 19.
Think no masks except at Halloween.
Think LIVE concerts and theatre.
Think football games with full crowds and tailgating.
Think Mudbug Madness, The Revel and all the other events that have been lost due to the pandemic.
In one sense it seems like an eternity, and on the other just yesterday.
The experience has been enlightening, educational, enjoyable, and entertaining.
Weekly deadlines have become as routine as the first cup of morning coffee and generally as refreshing.
This is especially true when each week's edition has been put to bed--punching the magic button that sends copy to the printer.
In March of this year, FOCUS SB was introduced to feature local non-crime news. And at the same time a "flip" paper. One side is FOCUS SB and flip it over, and the other side is The Inquisitor.
FOCUS SB concentrates on positive local news which is a much needed supplement to the local media community. No national news, no doomsday COVID coverage and no Black Lives Matter stories are published simply because the national and local media cover these subjects ad nausem.
FOCUS SB also showcases local journalists who write columns. This broad-based group includes Jon Glover, John Perkins, Prentiss Smith, Liz Swaine, Billy Wayne and Colvin Roberson.
The Inquisitor has stayed true to its founding roots. It has more local crime coverage than the other media outlets combined.
Together FOCUS SB and The Inquisitor provide complete, factual, non-bias new coverage of what is really happening in Shreveport-Bossier and surrounding communities on a weekly basis.
The banner of FOCUS SB states its purpose: "Building a better community with positive local news." The Inquisitor's banner has not changed: "If you don't want it printed, don't let it happen."
