SHOULD TOURIST BUREAU REPLACE BOSSIER ON BRIDGE LIGHTING?

Yesterday the Bossier City Council voted 7-0 to NOT enter into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA) with the Red River Waterway Commission (Commission) and the City of Shreveport concerning future maintenance of the planned re-lighting of the Texas Street Bridge.

This project is fueled by a private donation of one million dollars and a grant of one million dollars from the Commission.

The CEA is on the Shreveport City Council agenda for Tuesday. If approved, then Shreveport would assume the bridge maintenance obligations of the CEA without the assistance of Bossier City.

The bridge lighting project is heralded as a signature attraction for the river cities. Seeming the Shreveport Bossier Tourist and Convention Bureau  (Bureau)) should be a partner in this enterprise

The Bureau is charged with touting Shreveport and  Bossier. The bridge lighting project certainly falls within the Bureau's purview.

Additional information on this endeavor has been published in FOCUS SB  and on SETTLE TALK.
