BIG ISSUES FOR SHREVEPORT CITY COUNCIL TO CONSIDER

The next meeting of the Shreveport City Council on Tues. Oct. 13 could have a blockbuster agenda.

A partial listing of issues that will most likely be discussed and maybe voted on include:

1. Funding of a  proposed disparity study and whether or not  to include the Caddo Parish School Board who is not participating in funding .

2. Entering into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA) with the Red River Waterway Commission for maintenance of the proposed re-lighting of the Texas Street bridge--after the Bossier City Council voted against the CEA.

3. Funding of a pay raise for Shreveport police and fire that is being opposed by the Perkins' administration.

4. Termination of Shreveport recycling program and its impact on the $2.50 recycling fee on Shreveport water bills.

Shreveport citizens are encouraged to review these issues and express their opinions to their council representatives.
