Tuesday’s election was a record breaker for Caddo voter turnout.
Early voters were not discouraged by long lines.
The same was true for many who voted at the polls on Tuesday. Some were not able to cast their vote until almost 10 p.m. in the Norris Ferry precinct.
This election effort by the Caddo Clerk of Court and the Caddo Registrar of Voters took a monumental effort. The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Offce provided invaluable assistance as well.
Caddo Clerk Mike Spence, Caddo Registrar Dale Sibley and Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator -- along with their staffs -- are to be commended for a coordinated, well-done effort.
Yes, it IS their job as elected officials. But it took many long hours of planning and execution reflective of a strong-businessminded approach.
Not to be overlooked is the army of poll workers who reported for duty at 5:30 a.m. Some did not get to go home until after 10 p.m.
It’s all part of the American democratic process, and a critically important part.
It’s easy to complain about the glitches that almost always occur. It is more important to commend those who worked to make this election one of the smoothest in recent history.
Hats off to all who made this happen!
