CADDO COMMISSION SHOULD VOID FUNDING OF ICE

Last December the Caddo Commission approved the 2020 budget. It included a $10,000 grant to the Inner City Entrepreneurial Institute (ICE). Roy Burrell was NOT a Caddo Commissioner at that time.

Burrell was elected without opposition to the Commission last year. He took office on Jan. 13 of this year.

Burrell is the managing director of ICE, or at least he was on July 29 of last year he when signed an ICE application for ICE for Parish funds.

He has acknowledged that he is a paid consultant of ICE.

Surely the Commission recognizes the conflict of interest in funding ICE for 2020. The same should be true of Burrell who likes to brag about his 12 years as a state legislator and 8 years as a Shreveport city council member.

After the extended discussions about the conflict of interest of commission clerk appointee Jeff Everson , this should be a "no brainier”.
