Litigation was filed in Caddo District court on Thursday to declare the reappointment of Jonathan Reynolds to the Shreveport Airport Authority (SAA) null and void. The suit also requests injunctions against Reynolds from taking any action on as a member of the SAA board and against the city of Shreveport to take any further action to appoint Reynolds.
The litigation names over 30 plaintiffs. This group is represented by the Harper Law Firm, which recently filed an action contesting the SAA hangar leases.
Reynolds was initiated appointed to the SAA by then Mayor Ollie Tyler in 2017 to fill an unexpired term of a board member who had tendered his resignation. This term expired on February 28, 2020.
At the January 14 meeting of the council Reynolds was reappointed by the council after amending the agenda to allow Reynolds to speak and to add his appointment for a vote.
The council agenda that was posted on January 10 did not include the appointment of Reynolds.
The suit alleges that Mayor Adrian Perkins requested the agenda addition on January 13. This despite the fact that the council rules of procedure require the council be furnished the appointment name at least two weeks before the meeting.
The plaintiffs allege that the appointment of Reynolds violated the Louisiana Open Meetings Law as well as the council rules.
