FOURTEEN CANDIDATES FOR DISTRICT A—NOT THIRTEEN

Add Joyce M. Gilmer to the list of applicants to fill on an interim basis the seat of Willie Bradford representing council district A.

The council will meet Monday by teleconference to interview candidates beginning at 9 a.m.

A majority vote of the council members participating in the meeting will select the representative.

In a KEEL radio interview this morning councilman John Nickelson identified three  factors that would influence his vote:  honesty, commitment to District A as demonstrated by past actions, and independent mindedness.

Needless to say this decision will be ‘political’ in the true sense of the word. Reportedly one or more council members are lobbying for their choice.

It is expected that this vote will be at the regular council meeting on Tuesday.
