Fourteen citizens have submitted their names for selection of the replacement of Willie Bradford as the interim representative for District A.
A special teleconference council meeting will start at 9 a.m. on Monday. All of the applicants will be on the agenda to be interviewed by the council members.
It is expected that the replacement vote will be at the council's regular meeting on Tues. The selection will require a majority vote of the council member participating in the teleconference meeting.
Profiles of the 14 applicants from their applicants are as follows:
Lloyd Anderson is a graduate of Southern University Baton Rouge and is the president of Lakeshore Development Enterprises, Inc. He ran unsuccessfully for the District A seat in 2018.
Tierra Rose Blake has studied Early Childhood Education at BPCC and is currently in the Southern University Shreveport nursing program. She works as a host at LSU Medical Center.
Njeri Camara, BS, MSHA, MAT is a teacher at Turner Elementary School. She has an undergraduate degree from LSUS and a masters from Louisiana Tech.
MarvKeva Campbell is the son of another applicant-Marvin Muhammed. Marvkeva is a Centenary College graduate and is now teaching at Magnolia School for Excellence. He lists two addresses on his application, one of which is not in District A.
Frederick T. Ellis, Sr. MHS, MT(ASCP) is a medical technologist with Willis Knighton Heathcare System. He is the owner of the Lake Street Bar. Whether he actually lives in District A has been questioned.
Joyce M. Gilmer is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School and she has an undergraduate degree from Dillard University.
Trinity Catherine Goines listed a Bossier City address. She is recent graduate of Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and she has an undergraduate degree from Northwestern University in Natchitoches. She has been in management with Wells Fargo since 2018.
Dr. Gail Guidry Griffin has degrees from Grambling State University and LSU Baton Rouge. She is a retired Caddo library media specialist. She ran unsuccessfully in 2018 for the Caddo Parish School Board. She is the co-owner with her son of Creole Café and Catering.
Rose Wilson McCulloch has a bachelor's degree from Grambling State University and a Masters from Louisiana Tech. She served on the council 2010-2014 and the Caddo Commission 2000-2010.
Marvin Muhammad is the father of another applicant MarvKeva Campbell. He has a bachelor's degree from Grambling State University. He has been a frequent and often controversial speaker at council meetings. He is the owner of Turnkey Painting & Remodelling.
Carmen Parks lists an address that is not in District A. She is a graduate of Caddo Magnet High School and is pursuing a degree from Thomas Edison University.
Gregory H. Powell is graduate of Xavier University. He is currently an equipment operator for BJ Services.
Lee O. Savage is the only white applicant. He ran unsuccessfully for mayor in 2018. He is general manager of Service Experts.
Tabitatha T. Taylor is a graduate of Southern University. She is the owner of DMT Agency. She is an advocate for the Odyssey Foundation for Autism.
The council will make it’s selection at it’s Tuesday meeting.
