HATS OFF TO LOCAL PROTESTERS AND LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT

Kudos to all that are involved in the local protest marches that emphasize that BLACK LIVES MATTER.

Unlike in other cities across the nation, these protests have not had confrontations with law enforcement. They have not induced rioting, looting, bodily harm and/or  property destruction.

Peaceful protest was espoused by Dr. Martin Luther King. Local protesters are honoring his legacy by following his practices.

Credit is also due to local law enforcement officials.

The Shreveport Police Department and other law enforcement agencies have facilitated these protests, not hindered them. SPD personnel have provided traffic assistance, water along with the Shreveport Fire Department, and waived requirements of permits.

Mayor Adrian Perkins should given much credit for the actions by all.

Peaceful protest is an important American right and privilege.

Protests are most effective when done peacefully, without confrontation, rioting, bodily harm and property destruction.

Let’s all hope and pray this pattern continues here in Shreveport.
