RELIEF FOR TIGHT SEATING AT RIVERVIEW THEATRE ON THE WAY?

If anyone sat on the floor at the remodelled Riverview Theatre after if opened last fall, then you know the problem.

The seating arrangement left so little space between the rows that getting in and out of the seating was a major problem.

So was sitting comfortably if you were over five feet tall.

The change in seating was made to maintain the same amount of floor seats while providing handicapped seating.

An  anonymous donor has offered to underwrite reworking the main  floor seating to provide more space between the rows.  This would mean the loss of some seats.

SPAR is seeking the approval of the primary user groups of Riverview Theatre for this proposal. This includes the Shreveport Opera which has approved the plan, the Shreveport Symphony, the Shreveport Ballet and the Theatre of the Performing Arts.

This should be a slam dunk because it is  very rare that these groups ever have a sell-out. And the main floor is rarely filled to capacity for events at Riverview Theatre.
