John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

 

SHREVEPORT FURLOUGHS AND BUDGET CUTS

Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins announced at a morning press conference that the city would not involuntarily furlough employees.

He stated that 84 voluntary furlough applications had been approved.

It was also announced that an additional $6 million in budget cuts had been identified.

The administration had previously proposed $19 million in budget cuts that included cuts to public safety. Today it was announced that there would be no cuts in public safety budgets.

The council must approve any budget changes. These proposals will be discussed at next week’s council meeting.
