CLARIFICATION:  CADDO COMMISSION OPPOSES GLOVER'S I-49 BILL TO TRANSFER FUNDS

State representative Cedric Glover has filed HB 10 to re-direct funding from the I-49 Inter-City Connector project to  the Jimmie Davis Bridge project.

Current Louisiana law provides that for Fiscal Years 2021-2034, the state treasurer is to transfer, after paying amounts due on bonds and related expenses, the balance of the annual payments, the balance of the annual payments of $53,333,333 from the Deepwater Horizon litigation to the Construction Subfund of the Transportation Trust Fund.

Currently $100 million is allocated to the I-49 North Inter-City Connector to Caddo Parish.

Glover is opposed to 3.5 mile connector through Allendale.

Former state representative Roy Burrell, now a Caddo Commissioner, was successful in introducing a special resolution at the Commission’s Zoom meeting on Thursday to opposing Glover’s bill.

The eleven commissioners who “attended” by Zoom unanimously approved the resolution which will be forwarded to the legislature.

Steven Jackson, a protégée of Glover, did not participate in the Zoom meeting.
