Am I dreaming? When Bobby died on the show “Dallas,” no one knew it was a dream.
What the show revealed was a dream state. A dream state for months!
Here, it has been months of unrest. Is what we all are witnessing a dream?
I wish it were. No COVID-19, unjust killings, no police brutality, no injustice. All is right with the world.
Wake up, Jon. Your dream is no dream for all that you witnessed is reality. There’s no “Dallas” moment. We weren’t or aren’t held in a state of animation. All that’s seen, it’s not a dream, it’s all reality.
COVID-19, no dream.
Interruption of public schools, no dream.
Continued shootings in our communities, no dream.
A cry to defund the police, no dream.
A cry “black lives matter,” no dream.
The cry “I can’t breathe,” no dream.
All these mandates coming forth the government, Caddo Parish Commission, Shreveport City Council and even the Caddo Parish School Board, no dream.
Not all that you and I have heard has been a dream. It is all reality.
Every move that has led to quarantine, fear and distrust, no dream, reality.
Every time new data is shared about the coronavirus and its influence in our lives keeps us bound up and frustrated. It is no that’s a reality.
Those new plans unveiled to continue your sons’ and daughters’ educational journey. None of it is a dream, all reality.
Every day, every week, a shooting that leads to hurt, harm, pain and even death. No dream, it’s reality.
Every life that continues to be lost, no matter by whose hand, isn’t a dream, it’s reality.
Therefore, all that could demonstrate a dream, that moment in time that stopped because you were sleeping, it’s no dream, it’s all reality.
On March 13, Gov. John bel Edwards issued a proclamation: “Stay at home.” No dream. That very proclamation’s intent and purpose was to flatten the curve, the spread of the coronavirus. No dream, and reality front and center.
Yet, today, we are no closer to stompout this virus. No dream.
Interrupting education. No dream, reality. The reality goes beyond the interrupting. The reality demonstrates no true plan to meet the continued academic journey for every boy and girl equally in our parish. No dream, sheer reality.
The list that supports no dream could go on and on. But why? The reality speaks for itself. Much unrest with little to nothing of essence being established. To mitigate the effects of what has been going on in our nation and in our own backyard. No dream, just reality.
Mr. George Floyd did have his breath taken, murdered. No dream, only a sad reality.
What do we do?
Here is a hint: Get that bucket of water, dash it on your face and wake up. What you’re witnessing isn’t a dream, it’s reality.
