JUDICIAL CANDIDATES HAVE ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN SIGNS

Paul Wood has an oversized campaign sign on Ockley Drive near First Baptist Church.

Chris Victory has an illegal campaign sign on Line Avenue across from South Highlands School playground.

Edwin Byrd has an oversized campaign sign on Kings Highway across from the Byrd High School parking lot.

All of these signs measure 16 square feet — 4 feet by 4 feet.

All of these signs are located at residential properties.

Signs this size are only legal on nonresidential properties. The maximum legal size campaign sign on residential properties is eight square feet.

Wood is a candidate for Shreveport city judge. His opponents are Emily Settle Merckle.

Victory and Byrd are opponents in a race for Caddo District Judge along with Mary Winchell.

The job of judges is to know the law and interpret it correctly.

Candidates who want to be elected judge should also know the law and interpret it correctly.

Voters deciding their vote should consider candidate compliance/noncompliance with the Shreveport sign ordinance.
