SETTLE TALK - IF JACKSON WAS MAYOR,WOULD HE BOYCOTT CITY HALL?

John E. Settle, Jr.

Caddo Commissioner Steven Jackson refuses to attend "live" meetings of the Cad do Commission.

He is joined by the other Democrat Commissioners - Roy Burrell, Ken Epperson, Linn Cawthorne, Stormy Gage-Watts and Lyndon Johnson.

Jackson says he will not attend an in-person Commission meeting until Gov. John Bel Edwards moves into Phase 3 reopening.

Jackson does go to work, and he says he assists at free COVID testing locations.

Jackson ran for Shreveport mayor unsuccessfully in the fall of 2018.

If he had been elected, one can only wonder if he would have a "stay at home" mentality as mayor.

Since all other elected officials in northwest Louisiana are going to work and participating in 'live" meetings, a boycott by Jackson would be hard to explain.

Valid boycott reasons are hard to find for the others who refuse to come down to the Plexiglass palace at Government Plaza for meetings. This is especially true for Watts and Jackson, who regularly go to their "day jobs."

So much for leadership, especially by Jackson. If he throws his hat into the 2022 mayoral race, Jackson's COVID dereliction of duty as a Commissioner will certainly be a campaign topic.
