GOOD IDEA TO PUMP WATER OUT OF CROSS LAKE FOR DRILLING?

That is not the exact question the Shreveport Infrastructure Committee will consider at its meeting tomorrow (Tues. at 1:30 pm).

But the impact of  pumping 375 million gallons of water from Shreveport's water supply will certianly be an overriding consideration in the committee's deliberations.

The agenda item reads: "Consideration of granting an access point to Pine Wave Energy Partners to withdraw water from Cross Lake to use in their operations"

The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources has entered into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA) with Pine Wave Energy Partnership Operating , LLC. to allow the with just that over a two-year period.

The 12 page CEA has almost 30 pages of attachments.

For good or bad, the City of Shreveport is NOT a required party to this CEA.

The Caddo Department of Public Works has issued a right of way permit for this project.

Presumably Shreveport must also approve a permit for the access point.

Thankfully Councilwoman Levette Fuller's committee will have the chance to weigh in on this important matter. Other committee members are John Nickelson, Grayson Boucher and Tabatha Taylor.
