EPPERSON: NO CELL PHONES FOR STUDENTS

One can always count on Caddo Commissioner Ken Epperson to make pithy remarks at commission meetings, many of which are irrelevant to the topics under discussion. Seemingly, Epperson believes he is the proctor for the commission, and it’s his duty to preach in loud terms to his 11 compadres, who are, in fact, his contemporaries.

Such was the case at the commission work session Monday, when an agenda item concerning a proposed resolution concerning restricting social media applications for students on school grounds. In his crusty manner, Epperson said cell phones had no purpose at schools and that students should be banned from taking them to school.

Evidently, Epperson has no concern for school students who walk to school, ride their bike or walk to and from a bus stop, who may have a physical problem or other emergency that merits a cell call to a parent. Thankfully, Mr. Crusty infrequently participates in meaningful commission discussions, and when he does, his comments carry little to no weight.
