John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

 

JUDGE GARRETT'S PENDING RETIREMENT DRAWING INTEREST FROM POTENTIAL CANDIDATES

Second Circuit Court of Appeals Jeannette Garrett has announced her intention to retire in Jan. of next year. Garret was re-elected to a second ten-year term last year.

Garrett's judical district encompasses all of Red River and Desoto Parishes and most of Caddo Parish.

To date those that have expressed interest in running for this seat include:

Desoto District Judge Amy McCartney

Caddo District Judge Erin Leigh Waddell-Garrett

Caddo District Judge Craig Marcotte

Caddo District Judge Gary O'Callaghan

Other candidates, both judges and non-judges, may also qualify for the election. The judicial candidates will be able to run for this appellate seat without resigning from their district judgeships.
