SHOULD CADDO PARISH BUILD A COVID-19 MEMORIAL?

Caddo Commission president Lyndon Johnson has sponsored an ordinance to fund $75,000 to design and erect a memorial dedicated to the lives lost to the pandemic and the medical community that has combatted COVID-19.

The Commission discussed the proposal at its Monday work session.

Proponents of the memorial stated that it would help bring closure to the many who have grieved losses to the pandemic. It was also touted to be a tourist attraction for Caddo Parish.

The proposal was sent to the Commission's Long Range Planning Committee.

Past president Mario Chavez chairs that committee. Other members are Stormy Gage-Watts, Ken Epperson, John-Paul Young and Johnson.
