Realtiy TV can not top the last five minutes of yesterday's (Thurs.) meeting of the Caddo Commission.
During his president's remarks, Commission president Lyndon B. Johnson (LBJ) announced that he was dissolving the ad hoc Pandemic Committee chaired by Commissioner Steven Jackson (Jack).
This was after Jack had announced expansive plans for his committee to include community meetings to review how to designate the American Rescue Funds.
Jack immediately exploded after LBJ's announcement , virtually shouting at LBJ challenging his authority to dissolve the committee. Jack said he would seek re-instatement of his committee at the next Commission meeting.
After the gavel pounded the meeting of the end, Jack engaged LBJ in a heated discussion at the horseshoe accentuated by arm gesturing.
And then Jack stormed out of the meeting in a rant.
Jack has held himself out as an expert on the Cares Act funding and on American Rescue funding.
Some of the expenditures he pushed through the Commission on the promise of Cares Act funding have not proven reliable, i.e. the Commission was NOT reimbursed for the same.
Similarly some of his assertions on proper spending of American Rescue Funds have been questionable.
Jack DID win , as usual, the award for "I will talk at the meetings more than anyone else." Perhaps that will be some solace for his wounded ego.
The video of the meeting should be posted by mid afternoon today.
Turn in for the last five meetings.
The next installment of the Jack failed power play will probably air at the commission's work session on June 1.
