A NOVEL INCENTIVE FOR COVID VACCINATIONS BY EAST BATON ROUGE JUDGE

As the COVID Delta variant spreads in the nation, many incentives are being offered to those who get COVID vaccinations.

New York residents can get a $100 bonus.

Many national food chains have offered food/beverage giveaways to the vaccinated.

Many employers have offered cash incentives, extra vacation days and other benefits to vaccinated employees.

Colleges are offering prizes and scholarships to vaccinated students.

The Louisiana Department of Corrections is offering state prison inmates a $5 canteen credit for vaccinations.

And now an East Baton Rouge district court judge has offered some offenders on probation the option to be vaccinated for COVID in lieu of completing community service. In effect, the COVID vaccination is considered to be a “community service.”

The vaccination option is just that – it’s not mandatory.

This idea should be considered locally by both prosecutors and judges.

NOTE: FOCUS SB awarded $1,000 to 10 local persons who entered a “vaccination lottery.” FOCUS SB’s editor/publisher contracted COVID and was later vaccinated.
