CITIZENS MUST WORK TOGETHER TO END OUR FINANCIAL BONDAGE

Ants scurry together for a common interest, don’t they? Ants get together and get it done. Each with a purpose and working collectively, they accomplish their mission. Why not us?

Why do we not try to work together? “We the people” standing together to help our city.

Could it be as simple as the lack of “trust” and that six-letter word “choice”?

In a few months, we the people of the city of Shreveport will go to the polls and exercise our right to vote.

We the people of the city of Shreveport will address the 2021 General Obligation Bond, compromised of five propositions:

Proposition 1: $69,070,000

Proposition 2: $22,000,000

Proposition 3: $63,250,000

Proposition 4: $61,956,690

Proposition 5: $20,450,000

Five propositions totaling $236,726,690. The propositions support public safety, technology, water and sewer and drainage, streets, parks and recreation.

There is something keeping us, the citizens of the city of Shreveport, from supporting this plan. What could that be? Could it be a lack of trust in the leadership of our city?

Trust is essential in all aspects of government regardless of what we witness day by day.

So what will we, the citizens of Shreveport, do? Will we continue down that rabbit hole, the one that leads to division and divisiveness or make another choice?

If we are ever going to end what keeps our city in peril, we the people of the city of Shreveport must stand in solidarity, solidarity to hold elected men, women and ourselves accountable. All must be accountable to end what keeps us in financial bondage. It is a choice we make.

So where do we go from here? Will the citizens work together to release our city from the bondage of yesterday, the divisions and divisiveness?

The 2021 General Obligation Bond can make a change our city needs. How will we the people of the city of Shreveport address our needs? The choice is in our hands.

Every citizen must make an effort to understand each proposition, asking questions and gaining knowledge, and then each voter must make a decision and cast a vote.

God bless us all!
