At the Bossier City council meeting on Tuesday, both Council members Jeff Darby and David Montgomery took shots at Bossier Mayor Tommy Chandler after Chandler inquired about a postponement of the vote on his nomination of Wade Rich for director of Public Works.
Darby generally is the most polite and inquisitive council member. However his temperament has changed since he was elected by the Montgomery crowd as vice president. His directive to the council clerk to provide a copy of the city charter to Chandler was tacky at best, and downright insulting at the worse.
The outburst by Montgomery is typical of his high-handed insultatory demeanor. Montgomery acts as if he is the king of Bossier City and its his way or the highway. Montgomery will again be on the cover of The Inquisitor on Friday, along with his puppet council prez Bubba Williams.
The nominee Wade Rich was interviewed on July 26 and 27 by two panels of council members. Due to illness Councilman Chris Smith could not participate. Reportedly all six council members praised Rich's credentials to Chandler.
Tuesday's recurring drama of Montgomery versus Chandler was instituted under the guise that additional time was needed to check Rich's credentials and the requirements of the Bossier charter. Evidently a week was not enough time.
For those that may be interested in the charter requirements for this position, Section 19.02 reads "the director of Public works shall be a college graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering field or associated field of study, have a minimum of five years related work experience, three of which were administrative or supervisory..."
A public records request has been made for the resume/vita of Rich and other documents reflecting his college education and work history by this author. Hopefully the request will not be stonewalled by the Bossier city attorney's office.
