OMG--THE CADDO COMMISSION CAN MEET IN OPEN SESSION

The Caddo Commission has been meeting by ZOOM in recent months. They are the ONLY public body in north Louisiana that has failed to have open session meeting. This despite the fact that the chambers at government plaza has over the top COVID safeguards including plexiglass between each seat at the horseshoe, plexiglass at the speaker's podium, spaced seating, and temperature taking at the door.

Tomorrow (Friday) at 9 am the Economic Development Committee is meeting 'live".  The committee is chaired by Lynn Cawthorn and its members include Stormy Gage-Watts, John Atkins, John-Paul Young, Roy Burrell and commission president Lyndon Johnson.

Hopefully all the committee members will muster up the courage to attend the meeting. And who knows - other commission members may abandon their kitchens, dens, offices and video rooms to show up at the plexiglass palace. A live meeting will be a welcome change from ZOOMs that feature phones ringing, roosters crowing, TV news, commissioners eating , mannequins on the screen, etc.

This live committee meeting brings up the question about how the Monday work session and next Thursdays commission meeting will be conducted. Certainly there is no excuse or logic for those to be conducted by ZOOM. But it is, after all, the Commission so who knows?
