SHOULD GRACE PROJECT GET MORE CADDO COMMISSION FUNDS?

Grace Project, Inc. is a non-profit corporation based in Allendale. The corporate address is the same as Mt. Canaan Baptist Church.

Its 2020 990 tax return reflects its income and expenses.

Grace received $6709 in an Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) grant from the parish.

These funds were to be utilized to assist landlords and tenants receive federal dollars administered through the Commission for rental payments missed due to the COVID pandemic.

The tax return reflects total revenue of $30,150 and total expenses of $53,592.

Calvin Ben Lester, Jr. is listed as the corporate secretary.

Lester was compensated $10,500 by Grace in 2020.

Grace Project has requested additional funding from the Commission this year.

The Commission should have summaries of corporate tax returns for the entities that receive parish funding. A valid question that should be asked is how many dollars go to the primary beneficiaries of the non-profit versus staff.
