It’s the holiday season, and many Shreveporters have decided its time to take a ride on the Tom Arceneaux Mayor Train.
As they say, its always better to be late than never.
However those that have waited until the run-off to purchase tickets may be paying a higher price for a less attractive seat.
Many people who made major donations to other mayoral candidates are hedging their bets by contributing to the Arceneaux campaign. No doubt the same is with contributions to the Greg Tarver mayoral campaign.
The full list of "switch over" supporters , both for Arceneaux and Tarver, will not be known until campaign reports are filed with the Louisiana Ethics Commission.
The 10 day prior to the Dec. 10 general election must be filed by Nov. 30. This report will cover the time period from Oct. 30 through Nov. 20.
Thereafter special reports must be filed reflecting donations and expenses within two business days of each transaction.
Tonight (Tues.) Tarver has a fundraiser at Ernest's Orleans Restaurant. No sponsors/hosts are listed on the invitation.
Arceneaux is also having a campaign fundraiser at Eleven Events on Texas Ave. Tom's invite lists the following hosts:
Linda Biernacki
Waynette Ballengee
Roy Griggs
Scott Ward
William Bradford, Jr.
John George
Mike and Debbie Stanberry
Rick and Cindy Simpson
Fred and Melinda Kent
Scott Chafin
Ron Wicker
Fred White
Mike Riordan
Grant Nuckols
Wendell Delaney.
Many of these donors are new to Tom's campaign, and he was obviously not the first choice of these late train boarders. Most notable of these is Ron Wicker who donated $27,500, John George, Roy Griggs, Mike Riordan , Scott Ward, Scott Chafin of the Sam Gregorio law firm and others.
