Mavice Hughes Thigpen is in a run-off election for Shreveport city council District B.
She finished second to Gary Brooks, a fellow Democrat, in the primary.
Mavice was caught red-handed pulling up Brook's campaign yard signs on a security camera.
Her employee and relative Jerald Bowman posted a vulgar message on social media attending threatening her opponents in the primary.
But worst of all, Mavice has refused to meet with the public to discuss her candidacy.
There have been at least six community forums for District B candidates. This included Stoner Hill Neighborhood Association.
She failed to show for all but one of these
She did attend a forum at Byrd High School, but walked out after introducing herself and her family.
In other words, she was not available to answer questions and meet with those attending.
Tonight (Thurs.) is another forum that she is not expected to attend.
And to top it off, she refused to participate with Brooks at a DDA lunch forum yesterday (Wed.) to answer questions about downtown Shreveport which is in her district.
Think about.
Downtown Shreveport has Government Plaza, the Caddo Courthouse, The Strand, Robinson Film Center, Riverview Theatre, SciPort, The Aquarium, major office buildings, residential housing, the U.S. federal building, the court of appeals, and many, many other important institutions.
No one can say that downtown Shreveport is not the economic hub of the city and for that matter of the Arklatex.
Why is Mavice boycotting forums?
Does she not care about the people in her district that are not within walking district of her restaurant on Hollywood?
Does Mavice deserve to be elected when she has shown no regard for the voters in District B, and for that matter the city of Shreveport?
