CITY OF SHREVEPORT SUES COMPANIES FOR UNDERSTATING AMOUNT OF WASTE DISPOSED AT WOOLWORTH LANDFILL

Three Texas companies based in Waskom Texas with the same ownership are named defendants in a major lawsuit filed by the City of Shreveport.

Two of these companies haul and dispose of "contaminated sand soil", "industrial sludge" and "oil field waste". The other company transports and disposes of oilfield waste including contaminated sand/soil, drilling muds, saltwater and frac fluids.

The lawsuit alleges that the companies intentionally and falsely declared the amount of waste disposed at the city's Woolworth landfill.

The damages requested are $4.2 million plus interest in excess of $316 thousand.

The litigation was filed last week at the Caddo clerk's office by Kenneth Antee, Jr., a former Shreveport chief administrative office.

Judge Ramon Lafitte, a former Shreveport city attorney, has been assigned the case. Jerald R. Harper, who is an expert in litigation against the city, will represent the defendants.
