SPECIAL CALLED MEETING OF SHREVEPORT AIRPORT AUTHORITY TODAY NOT VALID

The agenda center of the Shreveport Airport Authority (SAA) reflects that a special meeting of the airport authority board will be held today-- Tues. Feb. 1 at 3 p.m. --to appoint an interim director to replace Stephanie Tucker.

The Louisiana Open Meetings Law requires that notice of meetings of government entities such as the SAA must give 24 hours notice of all meetings, be they special or regular meetings.

The notice of the meeting was posted at 3:01 p.m. yesterday, Jan. 31.

This notice is NOT proper because if does not give 24 hours notice.

Whether the notice is off one minute or one hour, it is a clear violation of Louisiana law if the meeting today is held.

This is NOT the first time the SAA has failed to comply with the Open Meetings Law.

If the meeting is held, litigation can be expected to void any and all actions taken at the meeting with a request for attorney fees.
