IGNORE FB GOSSIP ON LESS JOBS AT SHREVEPORT'S AMAZON FULFILLMENT CENTER

It’s the sad reality of today's social media world that fake news can spread faster than weeds.

Seemingly some tormented souls seeking attention have a hobby of creating computer crud by spouting negative messages that are founded more on devious intentions than facts.

If the goal is to tarnish good economic news for our area, then the easy target is one of the most prominent developments in the last few years. I am referring to the construction of the Amazon fulfillment center in north Shreveport and the jobs it will bring to our area.

Rather than give any credence to someone whose Amazon order must have delayed due to an expired credit card, I decided to try a novel approach before publishing ANY "news" on the fulfillment center. Well, its novel for some backroom computer warriors - I contacted Amazon!

Specifically, I inquired if the center would have less jobs and more robots. Simple enough--are the good jobs still coming?  I mean really, who cares how many robots are installed, because they will all need programing/re-programing, maintenance, and repair which require people.

A simple question and in short order a simple answer:
"We still plan to launch a new facility in Shreveport, LA, providing over 1,000 full time jobs, starting at $15/hour with comprehensive benefits from day one. The only thing that's changed with our plans is the exact timing. We are a dynamic business, and we have dozens of fulfillment centers, sortation centers and delivery stations that are evolving and under construction across the country. It's common for us to adjust launch timetables based on capacity needs across our network. We'll provide an update on our launch timing at a later date."

So, all your restless job seekers, chill out! The construction on the fulfilment center is continuing and the good jobs are still coming!

Like any business, Amazon is not attempting to hire employees’ months in advance. But seriously, how many wantabe workers accept jobs far in advance without a date certain hire day?

So, if you want to work for Amazon, don't fret just wait.

In the future there will be plenty of future ACCURATE publicity on job application opportunities, job training, and ribbon cutting.

And for you gossip mongers, why not turn your attention to how soon the weeds will sprout in your yard. No doubt it will be a more productive exercise and it does not require a computer keyboard!
