COMMISSIONER PAY RAISE AND APOLOGY FOR SYSTEMIC RACISM ON CADDO COMMISSION AGENDA FOR MON. JUNE 20 AGENDA

Two Caddo Commission agenda items will certainly evoke much discussion at the Commission's work session this coming Mon. June 20.

The first is to authorize the introduction of Ord. 6241 of 2022. Sponsored by Commissioner Lyndon Johnson, this is to increase the pay of         commissioners from $1893.08 per month to $1987.74 per month.

If enacted, this ordinance would be effective in Jan. 2024 when the next commission team commences.

The second item is Resolution 35 of 2022 introduced by Commissioner Stormy Gage - Watts. This resolution declares a public apology for         "Bloody Caddo" for past racial violence in Caddo Parish and an apology for "systemic racism perpetrated on African - American citizens of         Caddo Parish."

The work session begins at 3:30 p.m. in the chambers at Government Plaza.
