THE CURRENT STATUS OF THE BURNED OUT 114 TEXAS BUILDING IN DOWNTOWN SHREVEPORT

Here is the latest.

1. Shreveport Fire Chief Clarence Reece Jr. says his department and ATF have completed their
investigation on the scene. Samples have been taken for analysis. Arson is suspected.

2. Reece also said the remaining portions of the building are unsafe and he will not allow fire personnel back on the scene. He said the building owner is responsible for securing the building.

3. The city of Shreveport is considering declaring the building an threat to public safety and may seek an emergency demolition of the remaining portions. In such a case the demolition costs will be assed to the owner Judge Marcus Hunter of Monroe.

4. The Shreveport Police Department will not take any measures to secure the building and especially the bricks which many people have taken.

5. The city's public works department is on the scene clearing the city's right of way.
